My Teaching Philosophy
Bruce Lee used to say that the best technique to fight with was that of “no technique”. His goal was to behave as much like water as he possibly could… why you may ask?
Well, water adapts to every situation it’s in and if you are bound by using only one technique, then you can’t truly be as flexible in every situation you encounter.
I believe the same is true for teaching music. I don’t have a singular method for teaching the arts of guitar/songwriting/composition. Instead, I adapt a training schedule around each individual student. After all, we are all quite different from one another and while one teaching method may work fantastic for one student, it may be absolutely ineffective for another.
Our first lesson usually consists of you telling me your goals and me discovering your strengths, weaknesses, and learning habits. From that, I will start to form a completely personal training schedule that will best help you reach your goals.
While I love to teach the arts of guitar/songwriting/composition, I will only accept students who not only want to learn, but take the action to improve themselves every day. Progress is guaranteed to those who take responsibility and live by the 3 P’s: Practice, Persistence, Patience.
